During the interview, the former Belgian tennis player hailed Roger Federer and his remarkable triumphs on the men’s circuit. Meanwhile, the conversation moved towards the former tennis ace’s revered personality on the court.

Speaking of it, Clijsters brought to light the ‘negative’ yet entertaining side of the 20 singles Grand Slam champion. The WTA legend revealed how a young Federer was very blunt in mocking a tennis player during a tournament in Japan. They were watching the Switzerland team compete at the event when the Swiss tennis Maestro got “so pumped up” while criticizing a player. Notably, Clijsters said, “Positive and negative, right? He had them both.”

Even though Federer showcased his ‘negative’ side, it was quite entertaining for the four-time Grand Slam champion. While reminiscing about their conversation, Clijsters said “‘Hey, let’s go watch Switzerland play because that guy’s playing… the funny guy’s playing’. So I remember that as a kid, that was really funny.”

Apart from his funny personality, the Belgian tennis legend also talked about Federer’s wife, Mirka. Even though Clijsters might have made this aspect of Federer public, some fans are still not aware of his romantic side.
Federer once showcased his romantic side
Roger and Mirka’s love story dates all the way back to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, where they traveled together. Speaking of their relationship in his biography, The Master, the 44-year-old once revealed how a young Federer swooned her with his romantic side.
