Swiss tennis star, Stan Wawrinka, should be proud of what he has achieved in his tennis career. Living under fellow compatriot, Roger Federer‘s shadow for almost his entire career, the 38-year-old has had his moments too. It is no doubt that he is a big match player, having won 3 of the 4 Grand Slam finals he has played. Recently, he revealed one last wish before calling time on his illustrious career.

Stan Wawrinka makes a candid confession

The 3-time Grand Slam champion is in France where he’s participating in the ATP 250 Moselle Open. During an interview at the tournament, he opened up about his desire to succeed for one final time before ending his career.

Talking about this, he said, “If I managed to win a title, it would be fabulous for me. That’s also why I give all I have at practice. It’s true that this remains a real goal for the end of my career.

It has been a very long time since Wawrinka last won a title. His last victory came on the Challenger Tour in 2020 when he won the title in Prague. Since then, the Swiss star has had some disappointing defeats in the business end of the tournaments along with some early exits.

Earlier, Wawrinka wasn’t sure of participating in the ongoing Moselle Open. He revealed that fatigue had gotten the better of him, playing the entire season consistently after a big gap due to injuries.

When Wawrinka felt down and out

After the defeat in Paris, Wawrinka opened up about his tiring body. Although he was having a season of resurgence with achieving the best ranking in recent times, Wawrinka made a saddening revelation.

Talking about this, he said, “I feel that for the past few weeks, I have been very tired, broken even. After Astana, there were two or three times when I wanted to work but I couldn’t because I was too tired.”

Further, he went on to add, “I feel like I’m paying back for all the efforts I’ve made since returning from injury. I really wanted to get back to a certain level & I had to push myself as much as possible to do that.”
