The Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic cruised to his 10th Australian Open title yesterday. With this, the 35-year-old drew level with his archrival Rafael Nadal, who also holds 22 Grand Slam titles. While his fans can’t stop talking about the effortless campaign, Djokovic didn’t shy away from boasting about his latest achievement. The 22-time Grand Slam champion donned a special jacket for his trophy ceremony. It had 22 printed over it.

However, several fans didn’t like the idea and slammed the recently crowned Australian Open champion. Here’s what happened.

The world has given tremendous love to the top three players of the modern era. Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer have scores of fans rooting for them. However, out of these three, Djokovic has mostly been the notorious one. Unlike the other two, the Serb loves to have fun.

Lovingly known as Djoker, the fun element is always there for Djokovic. The 35-year-old’s underwear run in the Melbourne streets recently went viral on the internet. However, a section of fans didn’t enjoy it. When Djokovic put up the special jacket for the Australian Open trophy ceremony, a few fans were unimpressed with the show-off, while others absolutely loved it. Here’s the reaction from fans on Twitter.

While the fans are largely unhappy with the poor fashion sense, a fan found it disrespectful to his opponents. However, there was no explanation to how it is disrespectful.

Another fan lauded Djokovic for the sheer confidence he had in winning the final as he had the jacket ready before the match.

Meanwhile, a fan tried to take a jibe at Djokovic’s infamous Covid-19 vaccination controversy.

The overall reaction from fans to the outfit was mixed. While Djokovic fans absolutely loved it and hailed the Serb for his sheer confidence in winning his 22nd Grand Slam, a few fans didn’t like the boasting.

This year, the story for the Australian Open was different. However, the chances of Djokovic playing in the US Open still seem pretty bleak. It will be interesting to see who among Djokovic and Nadal advance in the race as they both might face off again in the French Open this year.
