The Serbian tennis star, Novak Djokovic‘s wholesome relationship with his wife, Jelena, has rarely been kept hidden from the public lens. The ATP legend got romantically involved with the renowned internet personality all the way back in 2005 when he wasn’t quite a household name in the sporting community. After connecting through a mutual acquaintance, the power couple supported each other through every up and down of their journey.

Later, in 2014, Novak and Jelena tied the knot and later also embarked on a parental journey after having their two children. Now, many are aware of their marriage, however, only a few people know about the grandiose and ‘bizarre’ manner in which the former world no.1 proposed to his then-girlfriend.

Like many others, the Serbian tennis star also came up with a unique and spectacular way of proposing to his partner. According to a report by Blic.rs, Novak Djokovic rented a hot-air balloon ride in order to express his love and adoration for Jelena. However, things didn’t go according to plan when the 36-year-old tennis legend encountered an unexpected problem in his extravagant ride. He said, “The problem arose when the balloon caught fire, albeit not that badly.”

Although not severe, the balloon caught fire, which caused panic among the couple, particularly Jelena. The 37-year-old was shouting during this whole ‘romantic’ moment while her tennis star boyfriend was trying to figure out the situation in the sky. The ATP player eventually asked the driver for some help as he was scared of missing out on that big opportunity.

Later, his partner interjected when she saw another balloon with a “Will you marry me?” message appearing in the sky. Jelena initially thought that it was an advertisement, but she later got the romantic message while her partner was already kneeling with the ring.

Ever since their marriage, the popular couple’s mutual love and adoration have been on display on various occasions.

The 37-year-old has been a regular attendee during the currently ranked world No. 2 player’s matches at various tournaments. Whether the Serb is triumphant or faces a defeat on the court, Jelena has always been there to showcase her respect and support to him. The internet personality’s love for her tennis star husband has also been evident during their off-court holidays.

Recently, during their trip to the beautiful country of Croatia, they were spotted sharing some private cozy moments in an aqua park. The Serb was donning a pair of funky shorts while his wife adorned a bikini as they savored the beauty of Copacabana Beach.
