Indian Wells entered 2nd day of the main draw, and many expected winners advanced to the next round. Australian pair, Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios also won their opening match on double’s day 1. Crowd favorite Nick was energetic as always on the court.
In the post-match interview, Thanasi spoke about their pairing and the future. But for Nick, his partner’s future prediction was false, and he quickly reacted negatively to the comment.

Thanasi predict a possible “lose” in future
The optimistic pair played their game well, especially dominating the net region. 2021 Australian Open champion pair continued their run with a win over Marcelo Melo and Ivan Dodig. Nick Kyrgios played his 2nd match in as many days at the tournament, but the energy level was still high.
In the post-game on-court interview, Thanasi said, “It’s always a pleasure to share the court with him. The bond we have, the friendship we have is so long. I mean we are definitely gonna lose at some point,” Nick Kyrgios didn’t like the “losing” part of the comment.

He quickly reacted, “No we are not.” and smiled at his partner. Thanasi Kokkinakis also corrected himself and said, “Ok, Sorry”. Both enjoyed the moment as they enjoyed playing with each other.

Paired formed 1st time at the senior level for 2022, Happy Slam has won all 7 matches played together. They were dark horses down under and emerged victorious after a stunning match against fellow Australian pair Mathew Ebden and Max Purcell.

On their way to the Australian Open Finals, “Special-Ks” had impressive results against some of the top-ranked players. They defeated top-seeded Croatian pair Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic in the 2nd round. The straight-set win made them “dark horses” for the tournament. Finally, they won their 1st grand slam on 1st attempt.

Next up, the Aussies will face US pair Jack Sock and John Isner on 14th March in round of-16.
