Reportedly, it was Imaz’s philosophy that helped Djokovic to bounce back from the slump that he had faced after winning the French Open in 2016. Imaz, who runs an academy in Marbella, said that they both remain in touch. The fact that Novak Djokovic made Marbella his primary residence could very well help their relationship.

The Spaniard elaborated about his current relationship with Djokovic. He said they did not have a fixed schedule for their meetings and will meet occasionally. “Yes, it is also a relationship that has no schedule. It arises when we feel it. When I perceive that I have something to share with him, the door is open and vice versa. He already has an important part of his life in Marbella and that makes us see each other more regularly. In addition, his brother Marko is here, with whom I share a project,” he said.

He also opened up about how Djokovic had been quite the expert at dealing with criticism, maintaining his own stand, or learning from his mistakes. Imaz mentioned how Djokovic does everything from his heart, and with the “best intention and desire to help and contribute from the status he has in the world of tennis.”
