Rafael Nadal, over the past two decades, has established his legacy as a tennis player. However, his busy schedule throughout the year doesn’t come in the way of supporting his favorite soccer club, Real Madrid. Considering his immense love for the club, Nadal gives his thoughts about not only the club’s matches but also about their preferred players in the transfer market.

When rumors were circulating in 2019 about Real Madrid trying to sign French soccer player Paul Pogba, the tennis legend issued a warning about the amount of money the club was willing to pay.
Nadal’s warning to Real Madrid
In 2019, the Spanish player reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon. At that point, there were talks about Pogba’s transfer to other clubs. Real Madrid and Juventus were vouching for his signature. However, Rafa had a different take regarding that. He issued a word of warning to his favorite club in a press conference.

He complimented the player and said, “Pogba is a great player.” However, he expressed his concern about the amount the club would have to spend. He said, “Sometimes, the money is crazy, so I don’t want something that I believe is exaggerated in terms of money. That’s all.”

Rafa shares soccer in his blood along with tennis. His uncle Miguel Angel was a renowned soccer player who started his career with Mallorca and ended with it. However, his peak was during the time when he played for Barcelona. So, Nadal’s advice in itself came from a sense of concern for the club.

Serena Williams will play her last grand slam tournament of her career at the US Open. It is the same event where she won her first major title in 1999. With 23 grand slam titles to her name, the player has established her legacy as a tennis legend. Now, Nadal will play for his 23rd grand slam title in Flushing Meadows.
