Former British no.1, Andy Murray, continues his comeback tour, as he reached the second round at Rotterdam. After going through rehab for most of 2021, Murray made a pretty strong comeback in 2022. The British player reached the final of the Sydney International final and looked in really good touch at the Australian Open, before losing in the second round.

In Rotterdam, Andy continued his momentum as he beat Alexander Bublik in the first round. After seeing this, legendary American Tennis player, Chris Evert applauded Andy Murray’s passion during the match.

Chris Evert loved the passion of Andy Murray

Recently, in Rotterdam, Andy Murray beat the 31-ranked player, Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan, by 7-6,6-4. It was a great match for Andy, as he had to run a lot against the Kazakh player. Certainly, it was a test of fitness for the Brit, as he is trying to compete at a high level against the best of players.

After seeing Andy’s grit and determination, 18-time Grand Slam singles champion Chris Evert gave a round of applause to the British player. She wrote on Twitter, “the passion is still there!”

After the match, Murray was relieved to get the win, as he said, “There were some tough moments in the first set for both of us… I just managed to come through at the end of it… It’s not easy playing against someone like that, huge serves, a lot of drop shots and you’ve got to keep your focus and I did that well tonight.”

Murray faces a tough challenge in the next round

Earlier, Murray accepted a wild card entry at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam. After beating Bublik, Murray will now face Felix Auger Aliassime in the second round. Previously, the Canadian tennis player beat the 3-time Grand Slam champion at the US Open 2020.

This will be their second meeting, surely a tough one for Murray. “[I’m] looking forward to that one. He started the year pretty well and is one of the best young players just now. I’ll need to be on my game if I want to beat him, but it’s a great test for me and we’ll see what happens out there,” Murray said about his next opponent. 

Fans will be eager to see how the Brit can mount his comeback in 2022 after being sidelined for the majority of the recent tour.
