Novak Djokovic has won his first Grand Slam of the year. Yesterday he won his fourth consecutive Wimbledon title after defeating Nick Kyrgios of Australia. After a stellar performance in the 2021 season, the 35-year-old was having a below-par season this year. Starting with a controversial Australian Open, he also failed to defend his French Open title.

However, the Serb left all those troubles behind in the Grass court Grand Slam. The top seed was absolutely ruthless throughout the tournament. As Djokovic has this strange habit of eating the grass after winning the Wimbledon Championship. The Serb spoke about the same in an interview after winning the final yesterday.

How does the grass taste at Wimbledon?
After defending his Wimbledon Championships title for the third consecutive time, Djokovic appeared in an interview with the Tennis Channel. Former tennis player Martina Navratilova was also present alongside. Interestingly, Navratilova asked Djokovic about the taste of grass at Wimbledon.
Replying to the question, Djokovic said, “Let me tell you, it’s the tastiest grass I ever tasted.”

Notably, it’s a regular occurrence that Djokovic eats grass from the court after winning the title. Back in 2014, Djokovic had explained the reason for his little tradition.

With this win, the Serb now has 21 Grand Slam titles. He went past Roger Federer(20) and stands only one short of Rafael Nadal, who has 22 titles to his name.

Novak Djokovic might skip the US Open
Now that the Wimbledon Championship 2022 has ended, fans are eager about the next Grand Slam. The US Open 2022 is all set to kick start at the end of August. However, the US guidelines for mandatory vaccination will most likely force Djokovic to sit out of the tournament. Speaking in the post-match press conference, the Serb yet again confirmed that he has no plans of getting vaccinated.
