However, there is still one veteran who is aging like fine wine. It is none other than Novak Djokovic. The Serbian legend is at the top of his game at 36 and he proved this year that he is here to stay. Recently, former ATP pro, Nikolay Davydenko, revealed what makes Djokovic so special.

Earlier this month, the former Russian tennis star was involved in an interview with Championat. During the interview, he talked about various subjects, like Djokovic’s Olympic chances and the upcoming talent in his home country. Further, he also analyzed why Djokovic is far superior to the young tennis stars.

Talking about this, he said, “If Djokovic gets into shape, even without playing a few tournaments, without injury, he is physically ready. It’s more important that you have enough strength for every match. And if they are, his concentration will be much higher than others. That’s why they are afraid of him.”

Earlier this year, Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in the Wimbledon Championships final. However, the Serb took revenge and defeated Alcaraz in Cincinnati and the ATP Finals. As a result, Alcaraz made a brutally honest revelation about Djokovic.

Talking about how often he thought about Djokovic, Alcaraz said, “Hahaha, Almost in every practice (chuckles), I’m not going to lie. I practice with a goal. I go to the tournaments with a goal. It’s.. trying to end the year as a World No.1. Ah.. Novak Djokovic is around my mind almost in every practice.” 

It won’t be a surprise if Djokovic continues his domination next year. Although repeating this year’s heroics will be a challenge given his age, Djokovic is in top form right now. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see how the 2024 tennis season pans out.
