‘Things Like Cinema’: Stan Wawrinka Discloses his Post-Retirement Plans

The 3-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka is training hard for the Australian Open 2021. Although he has still got the passion, age is a factor that will certainly act as an obstacle for the Swiss player. Wawrinka will turn 36 in March and thus, reporters have started questioning him about his retirement.

In a recent interview, Wawrinka talked about his post-retirement plans. Earlier, in an interview, he already spoke that he would not stay in tennis after his retirement. This time, he looked confident about his future plans but only gave a just about them.

“I’m interested in lots of other things, like cinema, for example. But my projects, I prefer to keep them to myself,” said the 35-year-old Swiss player.

This was something shocking, as most fans didn’t know about his interest in cinema. However, it became certain that Wawrinka had definitely planned about what he would do after his retirement. He didn’t share most of his projects, keeping them to himself, but it was clear that he definitely had something big in his mind.

Although he mentioned his future plans, Wawrinka believed that tennis was his utmost priority at the moment. He would most certainly play most of the tournaments in 2021 and would want to end his career on a high.

“For now, I want to focus 100% on tennis,” added Wawrinka.

It is quite visible that Wawrinka has still got a lot of tennis left in him. Although he didn’t win many titles in 2020, he exhibited some great skills on the tennis court. He is working on his fitness as well to improve his performance in the five-setters.

Wawrinka has already hinted that his retirement could come anytime soon. Though he has lost his old ability to strike a thunder-bolt forehand, fans still have expectations from him. They believe that the 35-year-old could still win another Grand Slam. Who knows whether Wawrinka manages to recreate his 2014 campaign again in Australia before turning into a dashing actor or cinematographer?
