Marion Bartoli, who interviewed her countryman after the match, shared how she was pretty confident regarding how the 36-year-old would make a comeback even after losing the fourth set terribly.

She said, “I’ve known you for almost 24 years since you were 14. You were losing this last set, but I was sure you’d come back. You did it. You did it.” 

Monfils broke down after claiming the incredible victory 

Even the former world no.6 was visibly moved after the match. As he won the match point, Monfils literally burst into tears and collapsed on the court.

The Tennis Channel posted a video of him using his triumph to channel his emotions. In that clip, he can be seen plainly lying on the court with tears in his eyes as he gave his all in the match.
