Injuries can’t come at a more wrong time than when you are at the peak of your career. Ask 26-year-old Michael Mmoh, who made a saddening revelation earlier this week. The American star will miss the remaining 2024 season owing to an elbow injury. While he updated his fans on social media, Mmoh received massive support from the tennis community, especially his fellow countrymen like Francis Tiafoe and Tommy Paul.

Further, he added, “I was recommended to get surgery in order to resolve the issue, however my team and I currently have decided to try to heal with a more conservative approach with physical therapy and rest. Will work hard to be back on court asap.”

Although the 26-year-old has been on the tour for long, it was only last year that he managed to have a breakthrough season. Michael Mmoh made it to the third round at two major tournaments apart from entering the top 100 of the ATP rankings. Additionally, he also reached his fourth ATP quarterfinal.

During the City Open last year, his father was present in the stadium to witness his son play against Hubert Hurkacz. He proved to be a lucky charm for his son as he caused a massive upset by defeating Hurkacz.

Later, Mmoh’s father highlighted his son’s stupendous performance, saying, “He even just ran into the wall to hit a ball. That was just awesome to see. I was so impressed. I mean, it was just mind-boggling. He literally ran into the wall to return a ball. Determination, that’s guts. I was just taken aback. I was like, ‘Whoa, that is the new Michael.’”

Meanwhile, Mmoh will look to get over this injury setback and come back rejuvenated next year. For now, he has to focus on his physical fitness and ensure his elbow injury gets healed soon.
