Novak Djokovic has had a major boost to his hard-court swing after winning an astounding final at the Cincinnati Masters. The much-needed victory against the 20-year-old Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz Garfia has given Djokovic to start off on a motivational footing. Back at the 2015 US Open, there was Gerard Butler who gave Djokovic the motivation to go against none other than tennis stalwart Roger Federer. And as history remains proof, Djokovic came out victorious at the end of a four-set thriller.

The Serbian tennis legend faced a disheartening victory at the hands of Carlos Alcaraz Garfia at Wimbledon. But a trip down memory lane in 2015 can remind Djokovic of his perseverance against none other than Roger Federer.

How did Scot actor Gerard Butler help Novak Djokovic defeat Roger Federer at the US Open in 2015?

To say that it was all Butler’s doing would be unfair to Djokovic’s talent. However, even tennis legends like Novak Djokovic need a source of motivation. Consequently, this came from none other than his friend Gerard Butler.

Djokovic watched his hit movie, 300, the night before his match against Roger Federer. As reported by Mirror Sport, he stated, “Funnily enough, I actually sent him a photo and a message last night that I was watching his movie, 300.

Therefore, after he pulled off an astounding victory against Federer at the US Open, he hugged his friend. He stated, “I went to my box and embraced all my family and team and when I looked at him I said: ‘This is Sparta!’ It felt great.”

Djokovic rejoiced over the fact that Butler had come to see his match. He stated, “We have known each other for several years and we are good friends.” Butler was coincidentally in New York during that time and hence Djokovic invited him. He stated, “It was very nice of him to be here and show me support.”
