The Russian star is in Beijing where he participated in the China Open. The former World Number 1 reached the finals but couldn’t get past Jannik Sinner of Italy in the summit clash. Following their match, Medvedev did an unusual act to which fans responded hilariously.

During the presentation ceremony, the Italian star was handed a huge trophy for winning the China Open, while Medvedev was given a dish. Additionally, Sinner was also given a doll which he kept it in the trophy while posing for cameras. Medvedev, who was standing beside him, hilariously put his hand in Sinner’s trophy to pull out the doll and take it away with him.

The moment went viral on social media platforms like Twitter and was met with hilarious reactions from the fans. Some cited that the doll was for Medvedev’s daughter. One reaction read, “the way daniil snatched the doll. It’s probably for alisa haha.”

Further, another fan said, “A gift for his daughter, such a thoughtful Dad.”

One of the Twitter users hilariously replied, “LOL. He has a daughter tho. So maybe he took it for her.”

Meanwhile, one fan felt that it was a mascot for Alisa. The comment read, “Hahahhahahaha Daniil taking the mascot for Alisa hahahaha.”

On the other hand, one fan praised Medvedev’s wit, saying, “hes so funny.”

Coming to their finals, the Russian star lost a closely-fought match 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2) in just over two hours. It is back-to-back finals defeat for Medvedev, who had lost the US Open final against Novak Djokovic last month. With some important tournaments in the form of the ATP 1000 events in Shanghai and Paris and the ATP Tour Finals coming up, Medvedev will look to quickly bounce back from these heartbreaking defeats.
