Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer shocked everyone with his retirement announcement. The 41-year-old is going to say goodbye to tennis after his appearance in the Laver Cup. In a 24-year-long career, Federer achieved unparalleled success and will end his career with 20 Grand Slam titles to his name. However, the retirement declaration had made the tickets for the tournament way costlier.

With Federer retiring from the sport, the Laver Cup will be the last chance for his fans to watch the legendary Swiss play one last time. Despite that, the rising ticket prices have certainly irked many who were hoping to catch a glimpse of the legend.

Fans react as ticket prices soar for the Laver Cup

The resale value for the Laver Cup tickets has skyrocketed. When originally launched, the ticket prices were between £40-£510. However, the tickets are now available in the resale market for prices as high as £15,000. Here’s how the fans reacted to the news.

“And Laver Cup ticket prices just shot through the roof…” another fan reacted.

“I’m back to London next week for a few days. Planned the trip months ago, so very glad I hadn’t booked for this week. Anyway, realized the Laver Cup is on at the O2 so checked out ticket. I almost had a heart attack…they must be joking with those prices,” a disappointed fan wrote.

“I saw that Federer announced his retirement and that his last game will be at the Laver Cup next week so I went to go see what ticket prices are like so that maybe just maybe I get to see Nadal and Federer play once in my life. I was taken aback when I saw the prices,” a surprised fan wrote.
