Andy Roddick is not happy with the Canadian team making the last eight in the Davis Cup

Earlier, the former US Open champion, Andy Roddick took to Twitter and wrote, Canada was given a wildcard into this round after losing to qualify for this stage ….. tough to consider them legitimate if they win this whole thing.

It is worth noting that the Canadian team got a wild card entry to the tournament because of the ban on Russian and Belarusian teams. Earlier in March, the Canadian Davis Cup team lost in the qualifying rounds against the Netherlands. However, they received a wildcard, which put them in the group alongside Spain and Serbia. It prompted Roddick to get into a discussion with other Twitter users regarding this situation.

“Just one less team in the draw. Unfair to the field if someone has lost in that years competition already. Like losing first round in a tour event and then getting granted access to the third round,” Roddick opened up about the situation.

Later, Roddick talked about giving Ukraine a chance in place of Russia. Moreover, he talked about not giving wildcards to a team who had already lost in the earlier rounds. Many fans brought the ‘lucky-loser’ point in tennis and Grand Slam tournaments and in reply, Roddick said, “That’s fine because there’s precedent in place. LL’s have always been in place. WCs into further round of DCup when you’ve lost in previous stages of that years competition havent.”
