Despite having been inconsistent throughout the season so far, Tommy Paul’s incredible fight against Jannik Sinner on his SF run at the Italian Open was eyecatching. However, after reaching the semifinal, Paul shared a very interesting update about one of his most beloved possessions. He revealed, “On court, everything has been going pretty well. Off court, a little bit of a stressful week.” But why? Well, the tennis star explained, “I got my truck repossessed. I missed a couple of payments and they took my truck from my house this week. I’ve been grinding to get my truck back. If you know me, that’s my baby.” Paul said he needed to pay around $1,000 more to reclaim his repossessed truck (Ford F-150 truck). How did all these things happen? Did Ford reach out to Paul during this time?
With his career prize money exceeding $10 million, Tommy Paul added around $325,200 to his earnings by reaching the Italian Open semis. Shortly after sharing this update, he humorously confirmed that one of his trainers was en route to retrieve the truck. “I already paid it back. A grand. I have my trainer going to pick it up today. Ford took it back. I’m excited to get it back. I had to win a couple of matches so I could pay that off.” Now, in the recent episode of the Nothing Major Podcast, John Isner had a FaceTime with Paul. During the call, the tennis star shared more details about what exactly had happened that day.
Confirming the return of his most beloved possession, Paul said, “We got it back, Frank went and picked it up.” Then he was asked why he didn’t have automatic payments on. Replying to that, Tommy Paul revealed, “I switched over to Goldman Sachs and didn’t set up the auto payment, and like you know I was getting a bunch of calls from Ford and I missed like six calls from them. And then I answered one and they were like ‘Oh, like we have a promotion available.’” Over that call, they offered him to trade his truck, but he said, “I’m not interested.“

He added, “Then I kept getting like a million calls. I thought they were trying to get me to this promotion, but really, they were just trying to get payments. Yeah, I’m talking to Franco, and Franco’s like, ‘Oh, like check if you have any packages at your house, I’ll go pick them up, and I check the cameras. There’s no package and no truck!” Hearing this, Isner asked him when it got towed? “It was midnight, I couldn’t believe it. So, sneaky, right? I only had I think, 800 or 400 bucks left to pay for this car. I owned like 99% of the car…“

Seeing this bizarre incident transpire just ahead of his match against Jannik Sinner, the WTA legend, jokingly said, “Maybe someone needs to tell him they are taking his house before his match against Sinner if he needs extra motivation.” However, despite that little extra push of motivation, he failed to seal the victory against the Italian on his special day. But he did manage to find some positivity and happiness ahead of the French Open.
Tommy Paul’s girlfriend, Lorenze Paige, was spotted celebrating the tennis star’s birthday
Soon after turning 28 (his birthday was on the day of the semifinal – May 17), Tommy Paul got knocked out at the hands of Jannik Sinner. The world number one defeated him by 1-6,6-0,6-3, but at the end of that defeat, the Italian revealed how Paul stunned him at the early phase of that match. So, that’s perhaps one big positive takeaway from that defeat ahead of his Roland Garros campaign. Speaking about the first set, Sinner said, “He broke me straight away, so that was a punch to my face, but I tried to stay there.”

Despite the loss, Paul’s girlfriend, Paige, didn’t forget to make the day for her beau. She shared a few glimpses of their vacation on her IG story. In the first picture, she shared a picture of Tommy Paul with the caption, “it’s tommy day!!!” Then, in another one, Paul was seen with his pet horse, and Paige captioned it with, “I love you so much! @tommypaul.“
Other than these, she also shared a picture where Paul was seen cooking burgers for his girlfriend, it was captioned, “your special talent (making burgers).” That’s not all! She also shared glimpses of their skiing session where Tommy Paul was spotted struggling a bit to balance himself on snow with the caption, “I can’t believe I didn’t get the ick from this true love.“
Talking about positivity, well, throughout the Italian Open, Tommy Paul’s hard-hitting ability was full-on display. Recently, during a conversation with Daria Kasatkina, Victoria Azarenka was asked who she thinks hits the ball harder, Aryna Sabalenka or Tommy Paul. Well, talking about her compatriot, she said, “She’s (Sabalenka) strong too. There are two ways of looking at it, heaviness and speed, and I think there are people who can play faster, but not as heavy. Aryna plays heavy… and fast.“

At times, Azarenka is also seen practicing with Paul, and she was even spotted supporting him from the stands at the Madrid Open. So, speaking about Paul, she said, “Tommy plays forehand can be heavy, backhand fast, backhand is not that heavy. Forehand can be heavy.” Paul has had some nervy moments in the last few days, but these praises from Sinner and Azarenka could perhaps boost his confidence a bit ahead of the French Open. Do you think he has a chance at the Roland Garros this year?
