2020 has certainly been a challenging year to endure. The pandemic caught everyone off guard, but we should be grateful for the things we’ve been able to enjoy during these challenging times. Likewise, Rafael Nadal is dejected about the severity of the virus but remains hopeful of getting past it.
The 33-year-old enjoyed an eventful year in tennis but suffered a disappointing climax. Rafael Nadal addressed the media shortly after crashing out of ATP Finals 2020 and rendered his sorrow as well as gratitude while reflecting on the events that prevailed this year.
“Very challenging year. Sad year for everyone. Wanted to thank a lot the people next to me; still healthy. But the world is suffering and the only thing that we can do is try to win against the virus. Hopefully, 2021 will be the year,” mentioned Nadal.

The whole world went into a forced lockdown during April and it extended for a few months depending on the impact in each country. The tennis world too called for a hiatus as it was no exception.
Nadal enjoyed a fair share of success in the second half of 2020 even though he skipped the US Open. The Spaniard reigned supreme in Roland Garros and muscled past everyone to collect his record-extending 13th crown in Paris.
However, his two titles in 2020 is the joint lowest tally he’s ever managed to achieve in his professional career since 2005. Nadal won the French Open and the Mexican Open this year.

Nadal has never won the ATP Finals tournament in his career which falls as a major shortcoming in his trophy cabinet. Furthermore, the Rolex Paris Masters is also one such title.
The Spaniard seems to struggle on indoor hard courts and the results paint an agonizing picture. However, he’s won pretty much everything there is to win besides these two tournaments.
