Holger Rune is an up-and-coming player who has impressed fans with his performance. The 20-year-old has shown fantastic performances, through which he has landed on rank 6 at a very young age. He recently showed another feat as he outperformed Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round of Wimbledon. When asked how he managed to achieve the task, Rune said he used his Novak Djokovic spirit to clinch victory!

Although Rune channeled the spirit of the Serbian great, he is a big fan of Roger Federer. The Danish player has stated many times that he is a big fan of Federer and dreams of meeting him properly one day.

Holger Rune on finding his victory
In his fourth-round bout, Rune was ready to face Dimitrov for a chance to enter the final stages. As the match lined up, public opinion favored Dimitrov for the victory, given his massive experience over Rune. However, the ATP number 6 showed just why he is in the top 10. After losing the first set, Rune managed to trump the Bulgarian player in consecutive sets.
In the post-match conference, Rune described how he was able to snag the victory by changing his mindset and channeling his inner Novak Djokovic. Pretending to be him, he went into overdrive to attain victory.

“I went into beast mode and thought of Djokovic,” he stated. “I pretended I was him.” He further added, “I was focused and totally locked in. With that mindset I knew I wasn’t going to miss a ball. He had to hit the lines. I felt that even if he did I would’ve been there.”

While the Danish youngster used Djokovic as an inspiration for his current match, he is a Federer fan boy through and through.

The Danish youngster wishes to meet his idol properly
During the 2019 Nitto ATP Finals, Rune and Federer met and trained on the third day of the tournament. But that was not enough for Rune, the Danish player believed that it wasn’t enough. In an interview with Tennis TV, Rune; during a rapid-fire round, said that he would like to meet Federer for real and take every opportunity to meet the Swiss Maestro.
