This year has seen a slew of new coach-player combinations, including the highly successful Brad Gilbert and Coco Gauff. But it was anything but successful for the Danish star Holger Rune and the French coach Patrick Mouratoglou, as they announced their split after the US Open. Now, it looks like the Dane has struck a collaboration between himself and the German tennis legend Boris Becker. While nothing has been confirmed yet, recently both of them were spotted together, giving rise to speculations all over the tennis world.

Since Wimbledon, the fifth-ranked tennis player has seen a lot of losses and has only won one match in the past few months. This prompted him to part ways with Patrick Mouratoglou. But now that the Dane is ready to play some good tennis in the season’s final stretch, he may attempt to reverse his current trend by having a potential partnership with the 55-year-old former German tennis legend.

Recently, just before the Stockholm Open, Rune shared some pictures of his training session with Boris Becker in Monaco.

The recent practice session has led to speculation about a potential partnership between the two. Becker has previously served as the captain of the German Davis Cup team and also worked with the 24-time Grand Slam champion from 2013 to 2016, during which Djokovic won six Grand Slam titles.

Rune, on the other hand, has three tournaments coming up back to back; starting with the Stockholm Open, followed by the Basel Open, and the Paris-Bercy. However, with the end of the season approaching soon, his participation in the ATP Finals will be the main focus.

Since Wimbledon, after seeing constant downfall in form, especially in the US Open, the 20-year-old tennis player made a huge decision to walk away from his French coach. After the separation, the 5th-ranked tennis player’s mother, in a conversation with BT Sport, talked about how it was a mutual decision.

She stated, “It just didn’t work out. Right now it is important that Holger finds the right team, that he can have for a long time. He has decided that isn’t with Patrick.” On the other hand, the 53-year-old French coach confirmed that their separation was always a part of 2023 plans.

Nevertheless, with the year’s end approaching soon, Rune might focus on finding his good form on and off the tennis court. What do you think about the new partnership? Will there be one? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
