Services in tennis are a game changer. A good serve can make or break the match for a player. While overhand services are the norm, players sometimes opt to serve the ball underhand to trick their opponents. Alexander Bublik decided to bet it all on the underhand serve and surprised everyone in attendance at the results.

Nick Kyrgios: The King of Underarm Serves
The Aussie bad boy, Nick Kyrgios, has popularized underarm serves in the current era of tennis. While it is not seen on tour often, more players have hit the serve in exhibition matches than they did before Kyrgios. He first hit the underarm serve against Rafael Nadal in 2019 and did so even more in the following years. Even Nadal gave the serve to his opponent in an exhibition match this year.
The first recorded underarm serve came from Michael Chang in his match against Ivan Lendl in the 1989 French Open. Now, Kyrgios and Bublik are the leading examples of players who hit the serve, with Bublik’s current one being his most successful attempt.
