American tennis legend Jimmy Connors recently offered some valuable advice to rising Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz. With the absence of tennis greats Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal from Wimbledon this year, Connors reminded Carlos Alcaraz that there is one formidable player he must defeat to have any chance of winning the prestigious grass-court Grand Slam: world No. 1, Novak Djokovic.

Jimmy Connors, 8-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1, is no stranger to the pressures and challenges of competing at the highest level in tennis. He dominated the sport in the 1970s and early 1980s, displaying exceptional skill, tenacity, and a never-say-die attitude. During one of his podcast episodes, he shared the only road to success for the 20-year-old Spanish tennis player at this year’s Wimbledon.

Jimmy Connors tells Carlos Alcaraz to prepare himself to beat Novak Djokovic this year at Wimbledon

In light of Federer and Nadal’s absence from Wimbledon, many young talents like Alcaraz have a unique opportunity to make their mark on the grass court of the All-England Club. However, the path to victory is far from easy as they must face the formidable Novak Djokovic who is currently at the peak of his powers.

Owing to the same, Connors talks about it in an episode of Advantage Connors. He said, “As good as the other guys are, the young guys coming up, you know, Novak has set the bar now. Federer is gone. Rafa is out for the rest of this year. He’s the one that sets the bar and, if you’re going to win this tournament, you got to figure that you got to beat him (Novak Djokovic).”
