Novak Djokovic has faced many players and difficulties throughout his years as a tennis player. He has always managed to overcome the obstacles in front of him and leave them behind. However, he has often failed to overcome one major blockage in his path. Rafael Nadal in the French Open is always a tough challenge for the Serbian, and he never hopes to face him again.
While Djokovic is worried about facing Rafa in France, the Spaniard himself is facing one of the biggest challenges of his career. The injury he sustained earlier this year put him out of commission, and he has not managed to come back where he is King, and Djokovic is wary of him.

Novak Djokovic does not want to face Rafael Nadal in Roland Garros
The clay surface is notorious for being difficult, and many players have even renounced it as a legible tennis surface. However, Rafael Nadal finds it easy to play and dominate on clay courts. One of the biggest players he has dominated in the French Open is Novak Djokovic. Their bouts have stuck with the Djoker, as he does not want to face him in the Parisian slam.
The 24-time grand slam champion interviewed with Marca, where he said he missed playing against Rafa. He further said, “I would like to face Nadal again but it’s better if it’s not at the French Open.“

Rafa and the Djoker have faced each other 59 times, out of which 10 bouts took place in the Roland Garros. In the clay slam, Rafa has won against Djokovic eight times, while Djoker only amasses two wins, a record against Rafa in the French Open.

Djokovic’s fear of facing Nadal has developed over the years. However, the King of Clay was also afraid of the Djoker when their rivalry began.
Djoker’s fear of Rafa
Before Djokovic rose to fame, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer were the dominating tennis players. In his book ‘Rafa: My Story’, he detailed the first time he would face Djokovic in the 2006 French Open quarterfinal. He stated that he had been following his growth as he was only a year younger than him. The talent Djokovic possessed worried him a bit.

Djokovic was temperamental but hugely talented, and Rafa had an inkling that it would set up a trio of him, Federer, and Djokovic when he rose to their level. Rafa was correct, and Djokovic not only reached their level, but he also surpassed both of them when it comes to slams and Masters. Despite that, the Djoker is still wary of Rafa in Paris.
