Carlos Alcaraz recently became the author of a new historical record. The Spaniard secured his third grand slam title after a remarkable win over Alexander Zverev at the French Open, becoming the youngest player to gather major wins on all three surfaces. While this feat made him surpass his idol, Rafael Nadal, his uncle and former coach Tony Nadal still decided to side with the young champ.

Carlos Alcaraz is currently celebrating his massive win at Roland Garros. The 21-year-old seemed to be joyous about his achievement and therefore decided to visit his friends in Ibiza to spend some quality time. While the young Spaniard’s growing dominance has started to seem like a threat to Rafa’s records, Tony still remained unbothered and therefore predicted a better fortune for Carlos Alcaraz.
“Carlos Alcaraz was proclaimed champion in Paris and thus won his first Grand Slam on clay. The other two he owns, the Wimbledon one on grass and the United States one on hard court, give a good example, in case anyone had doubts, of the great quality of his tennis,” the renowned coach wrote for El Pais, giving a shoutout to the young Spaniard for his notable achievement.

Predicting an even better fortune for him, Tony added, “All this data and the sufficiency and great tennis quality that he shows in the most important events only let us intuit that in a few years he will become one of the best players of all time.”
This came just days after Alcaraz unleashed absolute dominance to rewrite history. Rafael Nadal, who secured a memorable victory over Novak Djokovic to lift the US Open trophy back in 2010, completed his career grand slam at the age of 24.

While Alcaraz has proven his levels at an even younger age, he has not only bagged the expectations of securing more wins but has also emerged as a threat to the records established in the King of Clay’s name. As both of them have recently confirmed the update of playing for their nation together in Paris, Alcaraz had to upset him by denying a request.

Rafael Nadal is currently determined to stick to the clay courts and be prepared for the upcoming Paris Olympics. While he recently announced his withdrawal from Wimbledon and a surprise participation at the ATP 250 event in Bastad, he wishes to have his Olympic doubles partner alongside too.
Rumors suggested that Rafa wants Carlos Alcaraz to participate in a doubles event with him in order to run preparations for the Paris Olympics. While the French Open champion already has a hectic schedule amid the start of the grass-court season, he came up with an indirect denial of his idol’s request.

“Rafa and I talked about the importance of playing a doubles tournament together but it will be difficult,” Alcaraz said in a recent interview. However, he tried to be generous enough and therefore assured him that he would be all in for training sessions. “On the other hand, we can train together before the Olympic Games,” he added.
