When it comes to tennis, Novak Djokovic has made crashing waves. With his unbelievable achievements and dedication, he has left no stone unturned to be in court. But even though he has excelled athletically, there are still aspects of the game that make him uneasy. As you may be aware, the 24-time Grand Slam champion has a strong rapport with previous coach Boris Becker; however, times have changed, and so has the player-coach pairing.
The 55-year-old German tennis star is improving Holger Rune’s gameplay after mentoring the Serb. But what if there is a moment when Djokovic has to face Rune and see his former coach with another tennis player? The world number 1 recently spoke candidly about seeing his former mentor at the Paris Masters with the 20-year-old Dutch player.

Novak Djokovic opens up about seeing Boris Becker in Holger Rune’s camp
Djokovic is eyeing his 7th Paris Masters this year. Last year, when he was playing the same tournament, he was ousted by his ex-coach’s current protege, Rune. But this year, before the tournament, in a press conference, the 36-year-old opened up about seeing his former coach on the Dane’s team.
He said, “It’s probably not going to be that nice and comfortable for me seeing [Boris], if I face Holger, seeing him in the opposite box, because that hasn’t happened yet.”

Even after parting ways professionally, the German tennis player shares a great equation with Djokovic. But at the same time, he also talked about how things might get uncomfortable, as he has never seen one of his ex-coaches become a part of his opponent’s coaching team. Along with that, he also stated that having the six-time Grand Slam champion on his coaching team was a good decision by Rune.
While the 2013 Australian Open champion talk about how great it can be for the Dane to have a coach, a few days ago, his ex-coach also talked about Djokovic. The 55-year-old former tennis player apparently drew parallels between the serbinator and the prodigy.

Becker drew comparisons between Djokovic and Rune
A few days back, in a conversation with Eurosport Germany’s podcast, Becker reflected on his student, Rune, and also drew parallels regarding what makes the 20-year-old the next rising tennis sensation. While lauding the qualities of the 7th-ranked tennis player, he stated, “Holger is a rough diamond that needs polishing. I like his emotional outbursts. I have coached a player before, Novak Djokovic, who was sometimes not quite himself on the court, but that is allowed.”
The German highlighted how every player is built differently, and just as the 24-time Grand Slam champion needed understanding from time to time, Rune is a rough diamond who needs proper polishing.
