Carlos Alcaraz is one of the most promising players on the tour. Being just 19 years of age, the Spaniard is already in the Top 10 ATP rankings. To date, he has won a total of 4 titles, 3 of which came this year itself. Turning pro in 2018, Alcaraz has been continuously working on improving his game with each day passing. Looking at his game, a number of tennis experts have suggested that it is his nearly perfect game that has helped him reach this spot. However, star coach Rick Macci is of some other opinion.

Rick Macci is one of the most decorated coaches in tennis history. The seven-time USPTA national coach of the year has been coaching the biggest names in the sport since 1985 when he started his own tennis academy in Florida. His larger-than-life portfolio includes a long list of professional players. However, picking out a few, he has coached 5 former World No. 1’s. The list includes players Jennifer Capriati, Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, and Maria Sharapova.

Rick Macci’s opinion on Alcaraz’s rising game

Carlos has been in an amazing form since the start of the 2022 season. He first came out victorious in February, winning the Rio Open. Going further, he reached the semifinals at the Indian Wells. However, not willing to get anything less than a title, he made a strong comeback in Miami, beating Casper Ruud in the finals to win his first Masters 1000 title. On the clay court, he has continued his terrific form winning the Barcelona Open.

Taking time to analyze all the performances of the young Spaniard, Rick Macci finally came out with his opinion on the reason behind Alcaraz’s success on the tour. A number of experts previously asserted that it is because of his game that Alcaraz is winning. However, Macci has a slightly different opinion. Instead of the game, Macci feels that it is because of Alcaraz’s mental toughness that he is winning. He also asserted that he could soon be the World No. 1.

Recently, Macci took to his Twitter handle uploading a tweet. The tweet was an analysis of Alcaraz’s game. He wrote, “Mentally he is very unique. This is what takes everything I see about ALCARAZ complete game over the top. Under the hood gets you to number one and stays there!”
