29-year-old Lucas Pouille was once World No. 10 in the ATP Tour rankings. However, in 2019, an elbow injury derailed his career. Pouille underwent surgery and required several months of rehabilitation to make his comeback. He managed to return to action in 2021, but by then, his ranking was a far cry from the World No. 10 he achieved back in 2018. During his time on the sidelines, Pouille also fell prey to depression and turned to alcohol to cope with his mental health issues. Most recently, Pouille made it to the main draw of the 2023 French Open. Even though the Frenchman crashed out following his round of 64 defeat at the hands of Briton Cameron Norrie, his performances conveyed to tennis fans that his injury and mental health nightmares were well and truly behind him.

However, in a shocking recent development, it has come to light that the tennis star’s home was robbed. The burglars got away with several luxury watches and jewelry. It’s yet another setback for Pouille, who is only just rediscovering his form after multiple underwhelming and traumatic years.

In September 2022, Lucas Pouille and his wife welcomed a baby girl. At the time, it seemed like things were finally beginning to work out for the Frenchman. However, once again, misery seems to have found him and got the better of him.

Pouille’s rise to prominence in the tennis world came in 2016 after he surprisingly defeated Rafael Nadal at the US Open. However, his 2019 injury took a heavy toll on his mental health. As a result, Pouille started drinking heavily. Even though Pouille started a hand sanitizer gel business during the worst days of the COVID-19 pandemic, he struggled to abstain from alcohol. However, eventually, he did manage to get sober and stage his long-awaited tennis comeback. Let’s hope for Pouille and his family’s sake that he bounces from this latest setback quickly.
