Ever since Roger Federer announced an uncertainty regarding his ATP tour comeback, there were questions asked of the Swiss Maestro whether he will be able to make it back by Wimbledon 2022. Even though it’s too early to judge at the moment, it looks like Federer is making progress.

Federer’s sponsor Uniqlo recently put up a photo of the Swiss star wearing one of his famous hats with the ‘RF’ logo in what appears to be the start of his training session.

Federer talked about his comeback in an interview last month

I would be incredibly surprised if I were to play again already at Wimbledon (2022). Australia is not an option at all. But that’s no surprise for me. Even before the operation, we knew that a break of many months would be necessary afterwards”.

Federer also mentioned his training schedule during the same interview.

The doctors say that I will be able to jog lightly in January and gradually return to the court. Gently. They don’t know, but I’ve already been playing a bit of tennis with the kids. Then in March or April, I can start training again in a tennis-like way”.

Also, Federer won the ATP Fans’ Favorite Award for the 19th time in his career. Even though he played a mere 13 matches this year, Federer’s popularity among tennis fans proved vital once again.

If the training goes well, the 20-time major champion will grace the tennis courts by opting to play for a grass-court practice event in either Halle or Stuttgart ahead of Wimbledon Championships next year.
