Alexander Zverev had finally started getting his footing back on the court after a tumultuous comeback. Last year’s French Open injury set the German player on a career-halting spree, but he finally regained his composure at this year’s US Open. However, going against Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals was undoubtedly going to be a serious task. Besides that, after facing Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the Cincinnati, the German has a verdict on the two players.

After last year’s semi-final match against Rafael Nadal where Zverev sustained an ankle injury, his career came to a standstill. However, that did not lead him to get demoralized. Former World No. 2 recuperated from the injury and finally found his composure back on the court at the US Open.

The German player faced defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals of the US Open. Going down in straight sets, he evaluated the gameplay of the 20-year-old tennis sensation. Moreover, he has previously gone against Novak Djokovic which made him understand their level. In his post-match conference, he stated, “I played Novak in Cincinnati. I played Carlos here.” Comparing the two, he stated, “I think they’re very similar in level of the game.” Besides that, he also understood and stated the difference between the two: “There’s some things Novak does better & some things Carlos does better. They’re on a level of their own at the moment.”

Finally, with blunt advice for other players, he added, “Other guys gotta catch up. It’s as simple as that.” There has been a steady rise of other ATP players on the court. However, a steady challenge to these two active players is yet to come up to their level. For instance, Alcaraz has diminished all worries about his US Open swing even though he played his fourth round with a stepping on his leg.
