

Things were going well for Alexander Zverev until his semifinal match against Rafael Nadal at the French Open 2022. The German tennis star had made back-to-back semifinal appearances at the clay-court Grand Slam tournament. Moreover, he was all set to achieve his career-best ATP ranking after Novak Djokovic failed to defend his French Open crown, losing against Nadal in the quarterfinals.

However, towards the end of the second set during his semifinal match against Nadal, Zverev twisted his ankle and suffered a horrific injury. He lay on the court and cried in anguish. Subsequently, he was taken off the court in a wheelchair. A few minutes later, Zverev returned to the court and received a standing ovation from the crowd. Recently, he has shared glimpses of his recovery from his injury.
Alexander Zverev can’t wait to return to the Tour
The 25-year-old took to Instagram to share a video of him playing tennis on one leg. In the video, Zverev can be seen resting his injured leg on the seat of the bicycle while making some powerful forehand returns.

The former US Open finalist is quite active on social media and often shares glimpses of his rehabilitation process with his fans on platforms like Instagram. At the peak of his career, Zverev suffered an untimely injury setback that has derailed his 2022 season. However, he hopes to return to playing in the tournaments as soon as possible.

Zverev talks about his return
Recently, World Number 2, Zverev, spoke about his potential return to tennis later this year. He said, “We haven’t decided on an exact date for my return yet. I want to win every tournament I play. That’s my character, I don’t go to events just to play. That’s why I will play when I feel I can win this tournament.”
