VIDEO: Horrendous Scenes at French Open 2022 as Alexander Zverev Screams in Immense Pain Before Retiring Against Rafael Nadal

In a battle between two top-tier players of the sport at the French Open, German tennis player Alexander Zverev managed to give a tough fight to Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard won the first set and gave a tough battle to Nadal in the second.

The second set was a close one with each player exchanging breaks of serve and in the end, it seemed as if it would be decided in a tie-breaker. However, while attempting to play a forehand passing shot, Zverev slipped and screamed in pain.

The pain looked intense as Zverev clearly was in loads of pain and was crying before he was taken off the court in a wheel-chair. The German looked to be in clear pain and was in tears as the French crowd cheered him on.

However, Zverev didn’t officially retire from the match as more details are awaited.

In what can be considered one of the difficult scenes to watch on replay, Zverev was clearly in pain and came out in crutches a while later to wave goodbye to the crowd and officially retire from the match.

This promotes Rafael Nadal to the finals of Roland Garros as he awaits the winner of Marin Cilic and Holger Rune.

Before the unfortunate incident, the duo battled hard against each other on court Phillippe Chatrier but it was Nadal who got the better off the German. However, Zverev managed to keep it close especially in the second set.

Despite consistent effort in the second set, Zverev couldn’t manage to put any pressure on Nadal as the latter managed to take the set to a tie-breaker despite not being in the best of form.

Owing to Zverev’s injury, Rafael Nadal will bid for a record 14th French Open title on Sunday and aims to take a mammoth lead against Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer by winning his 22nd slam.
