The current World No.1 and the 20-time Major champion, Novak Djokovic, is all set to play at the Monte Carlo Masters after a long gap. The last time he played was in February at the Dubai Open, where he lost to Jiri Vesely in the quarter-final. As a result of that loss, he lost his No.1 ranking to Daniil Medvedev. However, he reclaimed his top spot in the rankings due to the reigning US Open champion’s inconsistent run of form. Recently, he shared a post on his social media about practicing at the Monte Carlo Country Club as a preparation for the tournament.

Due to his vaccination status, Djokovic’s participation in tournaments around the world seemed to be uncertain. However, after French Government lifted the vaccine mandate in March, the Serb will be able to play in Paris. Still, before the French Open, he will get a handful of tournaments to prepare for the Grand Slam event. Monte Carlo is one of them and he appears to be raring to go.

The Serb appeared sharp and focused in his practice sessions and should be itching to participate in the events. The tournament at the Principality should be extra special for Djokovic as this will be his only second tournament this year. After a remarkable 2021 where he came agonizingly close to winning the Calendar Grand Slam, had a torrid start to his 2022 season. However, putting those disappointments behind him, the nine-time Australian Open should be looking forward to having a decent run at Principality in the lead-up to his French Open defense later this spring.
