

The tennis community cannot believe what they have just witnessed on social media. A slew of tennis fans recently came across a video clip of a ball-and-court game that was created in France. However, tennis enthusiasts have been completely taken aback by the sport, which is also known as ‘real tennis’, due to the perplexity of the game.
The sport “Jeu de paume” dates back all the way to the late 17th century when it was also considered an Olympic sport back then. Surprisingly, the sport is still being played, and it is called ‘real tennis’. Consequently, fans were taken aback when they saw a video clip of two athletes playing the sport indoors in a similar fashion to squash. What surprised them more was the fact the tennis ball was being hit against a wall in order to win a point.

Fans react to a video clip of France-originated tennis
Although the precise history of the game is unknown, it is undeniable that tennis is one of the world’s oldest sports. The fact that Tennis has been dubbed ‘the game of kings and nobles,’ is entirely accurate. The noble figures in the 17th century were passionate about the sport that was called “Jeu de paume” during that time period.

The tennis fans were completely taken aback when they witnessed the game. Notably, one of the fans reacted by commenting, “This is “real tennis”, right?”

Back then, the France-originated sport was played without any rackets. And the players used their bare palms of the hand in order to play the game. Additionally, the “palm game” was played indoors anywhere in a garden, in theatres, or even in courtyards. However, various changes have been to the sport have been made over the centuries. Although the sport is still played indoors, rackets are now used by the participants.
The players are supposed to strike the tennis ball against a wall in order to win a point. The game looks pretty much like the sport of squash.
