Additionally, he also won the Melbourne Summer Set and Abierto Mexicano in Acapulco. It is worth noting that Nadal was making a comeback after missing the latter half of the 2021 season. As has been the case throughout his career, the legendary Spaniard made a dream comeback, winning titles after titles.

Earlier this month, the Spaniard had a wonderful run in the Wimbledon Championships. However, his campaign ended in the quarterfinals. Nadal had to withdraw from the tournament before his last-four clash against Nick Kyrgios owing to an abdominal injury. Recently, he has provided some good news to his fans.

After withdrawing from Wimbledon, Nadal returned to his native country where he underwent treatment for his abdominal injury. Recently, he was seen at his academy, the Rafa Nadal Academy. The former World Number 1 practiced on the hard-court surface ahead of the US Open Swing.

Nadal announced his withdrawal from the Wimbledon Championships via a press conference before his match against Kyrgios. The Spanish legend had suffered a 7mm tear on his abdominal muscle. The injury occurred during his hard-fought quarterfinal battle against Taylor Fritz of the United States.

During a recent interview, the Spaniard talked about how he, along with Federer and Djokovic have changed the dynamics of tennis. He said, “In tennis, as in all sports, there has always been a generational change.”

Further, he added, “Big stars are replaced by young talent, who in turn become stars over time. It is a completely normal process. Our longevity has turned the tables a bit, but I am convinced that the tour will be in good hands after our retirement.”

Nadal will kick-start his hard-court campaign at the Canadian Masters in Montreal. His chances of winning an unprecedented 23rd Grand Slam have increased significantly with his long-time rival Djokovic probably missing the tournament. However, the injuries that seem to crop up in the past will be a concern.
