The rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal has been one of the best rivalries in the history of tennis. In terms of their head-to-head record, the Spaniard is slightly ahead of the Swiss player. However, Federer won eight out of their last ten meetings.

Incidentally, their last ever meeting was at the Wimbledon Championships in 2019. During that semi-final match, the Swiss Maestro beat the ‘King of Clay’ in a terrific match. In that match, Federer’s backhand was in full flow. Particularly one backhand shot, which defied all the laws of physics.

In the fourth set of that semi-final match at Wimbledon, Nadal was serving at 2-4. After a great rally, the Spaniard played a dropped shot and Federer showed tremendous athleticism to reach it. Then he played an outrageous backhand cross-court which just touched the line; Nadal had no answer for it. Even the commentators could not believe the shot. You can watch the shot below.

That match lasted around 3 hours and 2 minutes and was one of the classics in the history of Wimbledon. The first set went into a tie-break, which Federer won in a dominant fashion.
