It was the year 2003. Roger Federer was gradually making his way to the top of men’s tennis then. He entered The Championships, Wimbledon as the fourth seed that year, behind the likes of Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi, and Juan Carlos Ferrero. The Swiss maestro went on to win his first Grand Slam title at that tournament, defeating Mark Philippoussis in straight sets in the summit clash.

Further, the 40-year-old has gone on to win 20 major titles in total, including an astonishing eight Wimbledon titles. His fluid style of play has been a treat to watch over the years. Playing consistently at the top level isn’t easy, but Federer has overcome all odds to dominate men’s tennis over the years. Recently, the Swiss maestro made a surprise appearance at one of the events.

Roger Federer makes his presence felt at the annual Switzerland Tourism convention

The former World Number 1 dialed into the annual Switzerland Tourism convention. He looked charming as ever during his virtual appearance.

Further, Roger Federer has been an ardent promoter of tourism in his native country. Last year, he was named the ambassador for Switzerland Tourism. Moreover, he did a campaign on tourism in Switzerland with Robert De Niro, an American actor, producer, and director. Talking about his campaign with the American actor, Federer said, “I am a huge fan of his so I couldn’t believe he said yes to the campaign.”

On the tennis front, Federer is sidelined from the tour due to his injury struggles. He last played at Wimbledon during the previous season, losing in the quarterfinals against Hubert Hurkacz. Subsequently, he suffered a knee injury. Further, he underwent surgery to repair the damage done, which ruled him out of the remainder of the 2021 season.
