Davidovich Fokina’s amazing run continues at Monte Carlo
In the second round, he caused a huge upset by beating the world no.1, Novak Djokovic. He could have beaten him in 2 sets. However, the Serb made some clutch plays in the second set to win it. However, he could not stand against the power of Fokina in the third set. He also beat the recent Marrakech champion, David Goffin, in the third round in straight sets.

Now, in the quarter-final, he showed his immense composure against the recent Indian Wells champion, Taylor Fritz, to get the win. Despite going down in the first set, he made a great comeback to win the match against the American tennis player. After 2 hours and 24 minutes of intense tennis, Davidovich Fokina beat Fritz by 2-6,6-4,6-3.
Incidentally, this is the first occasion he reached the semi-final of a Masters 1000 tournament. In the next match, he will face the Bulgarian player, Grigor Dimitrov. Earlier, he beat Hubert Hurkacz in a tough match to reach the semi-final to join Fokina. Dimitrov showed some great form in this tournament, as he is looking dangerous. No doubt, it will be a tough challenge for the Spaniard to overcome the Bulgarian.
