33-year-old Juan Martin del Potro is finally about to make his comeback to tennis. Due to a fractured kneecap in 2019, the Argentine player has not played in over two years. However, his absence from the tour and the circuit is about to end. Del Potro has recovered and is set to play this week in front of his home crowd at the ATP Buenos Aires.
Moreover, he will also play another clay-court tournament later this month in Rio de Janeiro. Ahead of his appearance at the Buenos Aires Open, here’s a gentle moment the Tower of Tandil shared with an adorable little kid during practice.

Juan Martin del Potro is already winning hearts ahead of his comeback
The Buenos Aires Open will commence on the 8th of February. Juan Martin del Potro will be facing off against compatriot Federico Delbonis in his first match since June 2019.
Del Potro had exited the tour after suffering from a patellar fracture in 2019- an injury that has taken two-and-a-half years off of his career.

Ahead of his match, del Potro has been going to the clay courts for practice. Moreover, he even took to Twitter to express his excitement about finally seeing his home crowd cheer for him at a tennis match.
Yesterday, Delpo shared a heartwarming moment with a little kid, who ran up to him to give him the tennis ball as del Potro sat on his player’s bench. Not only did Delpo give the little boy his wristband, but he also let the kid take his tennis balls!

However, the child happened to drop the wristband because of the balls he was holding. Then, Delpo helped him put on the wristband himself. The entire while, the crowd giggled and laughed as they watched happily. Finally, Delpo gave the sweet little boy a high-five he would remember for ages.

Ahead of his return at the Buenos Aires Open, del Potro has hinted that this might not be the comeback season many think it is. In fact, the 33-year-old dropped some major hints about his retirement soon.

Del Potro announced in the press that he would retire from tennis after playing the tournaments in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. Del Potro has taken this decision because he wants to “live like a 33-year-old person, without pain”.

In fact, he even broke down while making the announcement. Undoubtedly, this was a testament to the Argentine’s love for the game, as he now has to part ways from the sport.

Nevertheless, Delpo couldn’t have picked a better place to play the last few games of his career than in front of his home crowd in Argentina. There’s no doubt that Juan Martin del Potro will be missed from the ATP circuit.
