The 2021 season saw Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev go toe to toe, unlike ever before. The duo played two Grand Slam finals, a Masters 1000 final, and remained in contention for the year-end No.1 spot throughout the year. What’s more, Novak and Daniil even practiced together regularly. And now, at the Davis Cup Finals 2021, their friendship seems to be growing.

Both Djokovic-led Serbia and Medvedev-led Russia are into the Davis Cup quarterfinals. Even though the 2021 ATP season was tiring, they are still equally passionate about leading their countries to glory. But on the side of competition is a growing friendship between the best two players in the world.

Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev share a laugh at Davis Cup Finals 2021

Throughout the 2021 season, Djokovic and Medvedev showed massive love and respect for one another. They also hold each other’s game in the highest regard.

That is what has made them the perfect frenemies on the ATP Tour. Recently, they even shared a laugh watching something Serbia’s captain Viktor Troicki showed them.

Naturally, tennis fans are pulling their hair to guess what they are watching. But indeed, the growing rivalry between Djokovic and Medvedev is turning into a fun ride.

Next up, the two can potentially meet each other again in the finals of the Davis Cup 2021. Then, the World No.1 Djokovic and World No.2 Medvedev will pull up their socks to win it for their country.

Most significantly, Djokovic is looking forward to repeating the glory he brought to Serbia in 2010. But on the other side, Medvedev is hungry to win his maiden Davis Cup. Thus, the competition between them, which started at the Australian Open (February), is still alive in the Davis Cup (November-December).

Who will Djokovic-led Serbia and Medvedev-led Russia play in Davis Cup QFs?

As per the draw, Djokovic and Team will compete against Kazakhstan for a place in the semifinals. Likewise, Medvedev and Team will take on the Swedish national team.

Ultimately, time will tell which of the better two teams will go ahead in the Davis Cup Finals. They are still seven teams left in the competition.
