Roger Federer returns to light training

The 40-year-old showed off his foot skills as he returned to light training ahead of his potential comeback to tennis later this year. Federer looked determined to step onto the court as he aims to regain 100% fitness.

Federer struggled with his right-knee issues after his quarterfinal defeat against Hubert Hurkacz at Wimbledon last season. Subsequently, he underwent third knee surgery in August, last year, which ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Talking about his surgery, Federer said, “I want to be healthy. I want to be running around later, as well, again, and I want to give myself a glimmer of hope, also, to return to the tour in some shape or form. I am realistic, don’t get me wrong, I know how difficult it is at this age right now to do another surgery and try it.”

Earlier this year, Federer had announced his comeback at the Laver Cup in September. However, with his rehabilitation process going well, a return during Wimbledon cannot be ruled out. However, having said that, he has withdrawn from Roland Garros this year.
