Stan Wawrinka might have gotten himself into a little trouble. This time is not something that happened on the tennis court or against Roger Federer. The 38-year-old Swiss tennis player recently made a point that has created chaos in the tennis world. When asked about Novak Djokovic‘s PTPA, his response was something that didn’t sit well with tennis fans.
His response to the Players Association’s activities and accomplishments to date has generated quite a bit of discussion and many unanswered questions among tennis enthusiasts. But at the same time, his own take has gotten him into trouble as he faces the wrath of tennis fans.

Tennis fans not happy with Stan Wawrinka’s take on PTPA
In a recent interview with Lequipe, the three-time Grand Slam champion was asked about his opinion on the PTPA regarding whether it has created pressure on the ATP or not. He does not have many ideas about the Serbian Tennis Players’ Association and is even not clear about the agenda that the association carries.
He said, “What did it do? Not much atm. I’m asking you, I don’t know 🙄For the moment they haven’t launched anything concrete. So it’s not a subject. The idea of a players’ union is not relevant?”

Not only did he know the purpose of the PTPA, but she also commented that he had no idea why the union is important in the current structure that follows in tennis. Looking into that, a fan posted this conversation on X, formerly known as Twitter, and since then, tennis fans have flooded the comment section with questions.
A fan highlighted how he himself is creating a problem. He wrote, “Lmao what r u doing Stanimal pls stop embarassing urself.”

In addition, a tennis fan talked about how he might be just siding with ATP: “Atp is cooking something. Wawrinka is a tool. Just a utensil to be precise…”

Subsequently, one of them also made a clear explanation of how things don’t happen in a day; in a similar way, it will also require time for the PTPA to bloom. “@stanwawrinka never really built anything in his life. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and yet it still stands after many millenia & we still talk about its ingenious builders & everlasting beauty! Never look back @ptpaplayers! You’r building an empire!”

Along with that, a fan talked about how the fire to have things done as a player has gone. He wrote, “My question is: where is his smoke for the Player Council now? He was all hot and bothered a few years ago.”

Wawrinka fires a bullet at tennis federations
In the same interview, he glared upon a huge problem that has literally left players in silence dealing with their own problems because of the various federations that organize tournaments, including the Grand Slams. He stated, “Only 10% of the approximately 500 million euros in income is returned to the players.”
Not only that, he also highlighted that none of the federations that organize the four Grand Slams communicate with themselves, which apparently creates a problem for the players. He added that they only think of themselves and their convenience in hosting a tournament and tagged it as a ridiculous act.
