In a recent interview with Clay Tenis, the Spanish tennis coach acknowledged that he has been an advisor to the Canadian tennis player. However, there are some major differences between them, as they only get to meet at the Grand Slam events. Emphasizing their meetings at major tournaments, the 62-year-old said that it doesn’t make sense as Auger-Aliassime can’t make any changes to his game at such crucial moments.

Thus, Toni Nadal invited the tennis prodigy to train alongside him in Mallorca, where there might be the possibility of changing some things. Even though they occasionally diverge, Toni revealed that he has a vision that might coincide with the 22-year-old player’s coach, Frederic Fontang.

He said, “It’s about having a clear idea of what I have to do and then train it. At a Grand Slam it’s impossible. What do you want me to tell you at Roland Garros? I’m not going to tell you to hit it differently? Do what you’ve been doing all along.”

Coincidentally, the Spanish tennis coach’s harsh remarks came after he was lately a target of scrutiny from the fans over Auger-Aliassime’s poor run at the Wimbledon Championships. Despite his brutal assessment, he also had some praise for the young tennis star.
