“Things are not always as easy as they look on the paper though.” The fallout between famous coach Boris Becker and Danish ATP star Holger Rune has caused a heck load of controversy on social media. Rune collaborated with this famous coach only in October last season. However, stating his “professional and personal responsibilities”, Becker stepped down from his role in a short while. At one hand, the “passport limitations” were held as a reason by Tennis Bigwigs, Rune’s mother unveiled the truth on the other.

A reliable tennis source took the matter into their hands and tried to find the possible reasons for the split. This person believed that passport limitations might be the cause of it. This source commented- “I think it’s a very fair point. I think it’s gonna be a problem going forward for Boris. I don’t know what the situation here in the US is in terms of obviously the rules having got that record on now but the reality is for Boris that it is going to be a part of the problem for him if he does want to go coaching because there’s at least two majors where he is going to struggle to get to so that is going to limit people wanting to hire him,”

After parting ways with his former coach Sevrin Luthi, Boris Becker’s decision might have shocked Holger Rune. This talented tennis player’s mother Aneke Rune revealed how difficult it is to explain the matter to the fans in detail.

Speaking to the Craig Shapiro Tennis Podcast, she said- “Becker already had some obligations with Eurosport. So it was not possible for him to be there (Australian Open). Boris couldn’t cover all weeks anyway, so we needed someone else.”

While Rune’s partnership with Boris Becker couldn’t go successful, his mother revealed why the Danish ATP star chose to take a surprising decision afterward.

Holger Rune’s coach after Boris Becker is the “perfect fit” with “huge experience”

After the accidental fallout with the famous Boris Becker, Rune returned to his old coach, Severin Luthi. Rune’s mother Aneke Rune dropped her bits about it and said- “Then Holger had the dialog with Severin also so it was easy to ask him if it could be interesting and obviously he has huge experience from Roger so we thought, and the chemistry was good, so it looked like a perfect fit.” She further mentioned how returning to Luthi seemed a great idea for Rune since the latter had worked with the veteran coach.

Holger Rune’s short-lived partnership with Boris Becker represents the challenging phases of the athletes’ lives. It also showcases the spirit and strength of Holger Rune to not bow down and get back on the court with another coach.
