‘What Would Be the Best Address to Send Help?’- Here’s the Text Message That Novak Djokovic Sent to Ukrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky

Even though Novak Djokovic has been in a stressful state himself following his vaccination stand, the 34-year-old has not shied away from helping others. Today, 6th February, Ukrainian player Sergiy Stakhovsky shared his chat screenshot with former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. In the screenshot, the Serbian offered help to Sergiy, who recently became a part of the Ukrainian army following the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Sergiy left his wife and three children in Hungary and came back to Ukraine to join the Army. A few days back, the former World No. 31 announced his joining of the Ukrainian army. Since the announcement, Sergiy has not only been an active participant of the force but is also regularly putting up morale-boosting posts for his fellow countrymen.

Djokovic offers help to Sergiy Stakhovsky
On the afternoon of 6th February, Stakhovsky took to his Instagram to show the real essence of sports. The Ukrainian player uploaded a screenshot of his chat with the former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. In the chat, Djokovic was seen showing his concern towards Sergiy and also offering him help. Sergiy captioned the post, “Novak Djokovic thank you for your support. Ukraine is grateful.”

Getting the news of Sergiy joining the army, a concerned Djokovic asked Sergiy about his wellbeing, along with giving hope of a calm future soon. He said, “Stako how are you man? Are you on the field?” “Thinking of you..hoping all calms doubt soon,” he added.
Worried about the effect of the current state of conflict between the two countries on his fellow player, Djokovic further offered help to Stakhovsy saying, “Please let me know what would be the best address to send help..financial help, any other help as well …”

Novak Djokovic vs Sergiy Stakhovsy
Novak Djokovic and Sergiy Stakhovsy have played each other four times in their career. The two first met in the second round of the 2009 Roland Garros. Entering the main draw as a qualifier, Sergiy indulged in some high-level hitting with Djokovic. However, even after a high amount of effort, Sergiy failed to withstand the 4th seeded Serbian’s roaring game, resulting in Djokovic winning in straight sets.

The two next faced each other in the opening round of the 2010 ATP 500 Rotterdam Open. Seeking revenge for his previous loss, Sergiy started the game on a decent note. However, losing the first round 6-2, he was forced to retire in the second set after suffering a knee injury.

The two next met in 2012 Dubai Open. Unlike the previous two matches, Stakhovsy raised his game this time, giving a tough fight to Djokovic in the first set. However, repeating the previous results, it was Djokovic who came out victorious 7-6,6-3. A similar result was seen in 2015 Qatar Open, with Djokovic again winning in straight sets.
