Dušan Lajović has surprised every tennis follower with his victories in the Barcelona Open. Aside from Diego Schwartzman in the round of 64, Lajović beat players who were ranked much higher than him. One of his most prominent victories came against Ugo Humbert in the round of 32. Lajović managed the victory with pure tennis skills and the support of his fans. Along with them, his girlfriend, Lidija Mikic, has also been a constant pillar of support for the Serbian player.

Mikic is a Serbian citizen who holds an MD in medicine. She enrolled at the University of Belgrade to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2015. Currently, the MD graduate is a full-time medical doctor in the cardiac department at Clinical Hospital Center Zvezdara. She joined the hospital in July 2022 and has been delivering services ever since.

It is unclear when the two began dating, but one can find pictures of Mikic on Lajović’s Instagram as far back as 2016. Even though she has been seen with Lajović on several occasions, including the Citi Taste of Tennis gala, she prefers to remain grounded and away from the media and public eye. However, this does not take a toll on her support for the player no matter wherever he is.

Although the two don’t appear in the media’s eye often, Lajović once showered his girlfriend with praise as she is the light of his life.

Dušan Lajović opens up on ‘committed’ girlfriend

In an interview with Blic, Lajović talked about the commitment of his cardiologist girlfriend and went on to praise her for the support she provides. “She is very committed to her job; she has many responsibilities. First of all, she is beautiful and smart, and on the other hand, she is a person who signs up to spend time with her. It is nice when at the end of the day there is someone who is support for you as well.”

Lajović defeated two top seeds of the Barcelona Open. However, he will face one of the biggest challenges of the year. And for that, he will need Mikic’s support as he steps into the semifinal of the ATP 500 event in Barcelona. He is set to face Stefanos Tsitsipas, who is reformed and demolishing his opponents on clay.

While the Belgrade native is playing well, beating Tsitsipas, who has also achieved fantastic victories over his opponents, is another task altogether. Will he be able to step into his first Barcelona Open final?
