Frances Tiafoe has declared the US Open crowd at the Arthur Ashe Stadium as the most excited of all the other majors’ crowds. However, what adds to the frenzy of the major is also how the stadium is built. In 2016, a $150 million roof was inaugurated at the US Open. This has led to some issues that the Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic can not keep to himself. Being an Arthur Ashe Stadium fan, Djokovic can not ignore the consequences the raised roof brought out after 2016.
The energy is indeed high at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, but as per Djokovic; it has some consequences after the renovation in 2016. Commending the aura of the stadium, he made sure to point out some flaws with the renovation.

Novak Djokovic did not hide his disappointment with the renovated Arthur Ashe Stadium
The year 2016 saw one of the biggest changes at the US Open. It was the retractable roof that was added to the stadium to avoid rain delays at the last major of the year.
It indeed paved the way for a more convenient approach for the players, where they did not have to worry about the rain delays. As reported by the New York Times, it took three years and $150 million to build. However, as per Djokovic, it has also brought out some problems. In his post-match press conference this year, he stated, “It’s loudest and probably the most humid conditions of all center courts of all four Grand Slams.”
He then shed light on how the interior weather of the stadium has been affected by the roof. Djokovic stated, “For some reason, ever since the roof construction was introduced, I feel we have less breeze and less circulation of the air inside.” He added how this consequently raises the temperature.

“Players are really soaking wet. I can see every one, even myself. You sweat so much on the court.” However, that does not mean that this change led Djokovic to dislike the stadium. In fact, Djokovic included praises for the most energetic aura of the stadium.
He stated, “It’s the size. It’s the echo because of the roof construction. It’s everything combined.” He praised Americans for making the aura vibrant: “Just people, New Yorkers, love their tennis. They don’t care if they stay up very late, post-midnight, because they get excited.”
After two years, Djokovic is finally back at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. This time, he is also ready to fulfill a fan’s lifelong dream, along with his dream to win big.
