Roberto Bautista Agut pulls out

After winning his first-round match against Attila Balázs of Hungary, the Spaniard was all set to play his second match today. Before his second-round match today, he announced his withdrawal on Instagram. This means that Daniel Galan of Colombia will get a walkover to the third round of the tournament.

“Sadly, today I have notified the organization of Wimbledon of my withdrawal from the competition. Yesterday I started not feeling very well, and I tested positive for Covid-19. Symptoms are not very serious, but I think this is the best decision. Thank you all for your support always. I hope to be back on court soon,” he wrote.

Earlier, Frenchwoman Alize Cornet reacted to the news of Matteo Berrettini and Marin Cilic getting covid positive in Wimbledon. Speaking after her first-round win, Cornet made some controversial claims. She said that players at the French Open had mutually agreed to stop self-testing and keep quiet. However, the Frenchwoman clarified later that she suspected a few cases and not claimed it.

“At Roland Garros, yes, I think there have been a few cases and it was a tacit agreement between us. We are not going to self-test to get into trouble! Afterwards, I saw girls wearing masks, maybe because they knew [they might have it] and didn’t want to pass on. You also have to have a civic spirit,” she said.
