Roger Federer‘s absence from Andy Murray‘s farewell match at Wimbledon raised concerns. But now, as the British tennis player is continuing his Wimbledon farewell by teaming up with Emma Raducanu for the mixed doubles, his friend Federer has reached ahead of time to make amends. Apparently, the 20-time Grand Slam champion, without missing, came early for the Brit’s farewell match as he witnessed Ben Shelton play.

Roger Federer arrived at Court 1 with his mother, intending to catch the match between Ben Shelton and Denis Shapovalov. Not only did he arrive early for the tennis, but he also wanted to take advantage of the chance to make peace with Andy Murray. Murray and Emma Raducanu are slated to play their fourth encounter on the same court in the interim. But Federer, while he spoke beautifully in the farewell video from Wimbledon going viral, didn’t appear at the All England Club in person to say anything to the Briton.

The expectation of their reunion raised the level of curiosity about the day’s events when Federer took his seat during the opening game. Recently, Jose Morgado took to his Twitter handle to share a video of the 42-year-old Swiss tennis legend sitting in the crowd witnessing Shelton play. Along with that, the caption reads, “Federer, his mom, Godsick and Henman watching Shapo vs. Shelton.”

However, it all started when Federer was at Wimbledon on Friday but did not join Andy Murray on Centre Court. The 20-time Grand Slam champion spoke to Andy Murray before the Scot’s final men’s doubles match but decided against going on Centre Court to overshadow the post-match ceremony.

MC Sue Barker announced Roger Federer’s name while reading through a list of champions in attendance, highlighting the significance of his presence. “Yeah, he went and saw Andy before the match,” tournament director Jamie Baker responded when asked if the 20-time Grand Slam winner had chosen not to dominate the proceedings.

He said, “They had a good chat. The player thing was the most fluid part of our plan obviously with matches going on and the weather we didn’t know how that was going to work out so we made a last-minute decision to get some of those players on the court which I think actually made quite a nice addition to the celebration, I think Andy really appreciated that as well.”

Not only that, even the former world number one shared his take on missing out on Murray’s big day, with a huge revelation.

Roger Federer reveals the reason for missing Murray’s farewell match

Alongside his brother Jamie, Murray took part in the Wimbledon men’s doubles competition. On July 4, the two faced defeat in their first-round match at Centre Court against John Deers and Rinky Hijikata. Afterward, tennis greats including Novak Djokovic, Martina Navratilova, and John McEnroe attended an emotional farewell for Murray. Federer, who was photographed at Wimbledon that same day, did not attend the ceremony, though.

Subsequently, Federer stated in an ESPN interview that he had intended to watch Murray’s July 2 singles match against Tomas Machac. He stated, “I wish I could’ve been there last night but I already had obligations because I didn’t know how it was gonna all play out. I actually took an earlier flight on Tuesday to be here in case he played his singles.”

Nevertheless, now that Federer is here, to support his dear friend, everything’s good between the two. However, what are your thoughts on Federer’s recent appearance? Do let us know in the comment section below.
