Billy Harris says he is “very excited”  to participate at the Wimbledon 2024

Billy Harris traveled in a van for three and a half years, going from event to tournament. In the early years of his career, he mostly competed on the ITF World Tennis Tour, which is a division below the ATP Challenger Tour, and frequently traveled throughout Europe in a modified transport van in order to save money. Harris also slept in the van in addition to using it to go from city to city. And, eventually, all these struggles make sense now as he is soon going to have his “special day stepping out on court there.”

“I’m very excited (for Wimbledon). Again, I’ve always wanted to play main draw there and I know it’s going to be a special day stepping out on court there”– said Harris. While asked how he improved his form, this British tennis player showcased a humble attitude. “I think I’ve got a good team around me. My Dad, Colin Beecher (LTA NTC National Coach) has been helping a lot, the fitness guys at the LTA, nutritionists, etc, so I have a nice set up when I’m in England. Then it’s just staying dedicated week by week and all the little things start to add up”- he said.

Nevertheless, Billy Harris’ eagerness to play against Murray or Djokovic showcases his admiration for his seniors in the field. Regardless of his opponent in Wimbledon’s first round, Harris has already won hearts with his grounded personality and a hunger to improve his playing style.
